In the 1880’s, the Rio Verde Canal Company came up with an idea to turn the desert land west of Scottsdale into a farming section. The company named this area Paradise Valley, because of the abundance of wildflowers found growing throughout. Although, their idea never came to pass the name Paradise Valley stuck. After while, the city of Phoenix began to grow and prosper. Some people decided that Paradise Valley would be perfect for new homes. Homes began to be built, along with some high-end resorts. In 1961, Paradise Valley was incorporated.
